About Well Matters

Well Matters offers Gottman Method couples and relationship therapy via telehealth across Australia — and face-to-face in Swan Hill, Victoria.

The Gottman Method is one of the most extensively researched approaches to relationships in the world — developed from four decades of studying what actually distinguishes thriving couples from those who don't make it.

It is not talk therapy dressed up in couple-friendly language. It is evidence-based, research-backed, and genuinely effective.

We work with couples navigating conflict, disconnection, infidelity, intimacy challenges, life transitions, and the slow drift that happens when life gets loud. We also support couples who are fundamentally good and want to be exceptional — and those preparing for marriage or major life commitments.

Through our partner business Mind Over Matters, clients have access to an integrated pathway of individual counselling, neurodiversity support, trauma therapy, and NDIS services alongside couples work.

Well Matters brings the gold-standard Gottman approach to couples nationwide through accessible, high-quality telehealth delivery.

Part of Something Bigger

Well Matters grew out of Mind Over Matters — a counselling and mental health practice founded by George and Tiarni Mudford in Swan Hill, Victoria.

At Mind Over Matters, the work has always been about making quality mental health support genuinely accessible — for people in regional areas, for neurodivergent individuals, for those who've been failed by the system before. That same commitment is at the heart of Well Matters.

The two practices are separate but deeply connected. Where Mind Over Matters focuses on individual mental health and wellbeing, Well Matters brings that same values-led approach to couples and relationships.

If you or your partner are also navigating individual mental health challenges — anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism — the team at Mind Over Matters can support you there. Many couples find that individual support alongside couples therapy produces the best results.
